It was pretty much hot and humid today. I think it was 90 when we were leaving :0. So it really wore me and everyone in my group out. Still had a good time though. So here goes my first trip report in a long time.
Started out the day around 10:30 when we got to the park, went in and went over to Raptor, and said what the heck. Went on Raptor after a 45 minute wait. Good ride as usual. Next we all started walking and I said lets go over to Maverick. So we started heading to the back of the park. On the way we hopped on Iron Dragon, fun yet again. Then we got over to Maverick, it was down at the time so we sat it out and waited. It went back up not too long after and waited probally a bit over an hour for a ride. It seemed a bit more choppy than I remembered, neck hurts a bit. After that it was getting close to 1 so it was time to head back to the car for the picnic. Ate and went back in and got on STR, Thunder Canyon, and Snake River Falls. It was nice to cool down! After that I was pretty much done for the day, so I left to go back to the car and get my camera. Well that didn’t work. I somehow broke the memory card and couldn’t save pictures. Good day just way to hot!
Thoughts on STR:
Good:
- Theming is very well done for a Cedar Fair ride.
- It’s very refreshing.
- Smooth lift hills.
- It looks nice.
- You do get wet.
Bad:
These are just my thoughts. Things that could use improvement.
- Why is there no bridge or tunnel? How much would it have really been to do a nice ramp over the railroad tracks. I think it would have saved a bit of headache. I don’t know. It just bugged me!
- The ride opps chosing seats? I was with my cousins and he is a bit younger. I was not able to ride with when they chose seats. He was seated at the back by himself. I mean comon Cedar Point. Could we get a better system. It’s also slow!
- Not about STR here but really Cedar Point? Food prices really need to come down a notch. $10 for a freaking icee? wow…
Ok that’s about it. Rant over.
Ok where did the time go? It seems like a couple day’s ago it was snowing and cold! Now the weather is beautiful. Opening Day is in one week, I’ll be there. Stay tuned to Twitter @CoasterHQ for Opening Day pictures and updates.
I can’t belive it! It feels like only a few days ago I was posting the “99 Days!!” post
. It’s been quite more than that though, 49 days till Opening Day 2010! Shoot the Rapids is looking very nice on the webcam, the park is starting to arise. Somethime in mid April I’ll have a few photos from Cedar Point and maybe Kings Island if I can make it down there as well. Wow time is really flying by!
I’ve been kinda quiet lately, not really anything to talk about. I really don’t wan’t to keep going on with the posts like, “99 DAYZ!!!11!!!!1…98 DAYZ!!!!11!!!11!!…” so I’m staying quiet untill something happens. Well this past week there has been quite a bit of progress on STR, both lift hills have been constructed and looks like they’re starting to pour the channels for the boats to go through. The ride is going up pretty quickly now!
At first I wasn’t really excited about the new ride and kinda brushed it off like any coaster enthusist would. Now that I’m seeing it go up it’s starting to look pretty enticing. If it’s not the location of it in the park that is very interesting, it’s the whole look of the ride.
I haven’t been to the park since the end of July last year and I kinda need to get back there. I miss it! Be sure to watch the webcams every so often, these also don’t seem to go down like they used to which is nice. Here’s a link – http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/fun/webcams/index.cfm

In 99 days we’ll be riding the rides and enjoying the sun again. I’m going to try and keep it to a minimum with these types of posts because they doin’t seem to add very much, but ohh well. Can’t wait
I just thought that this looked neat.

I edited a new video over the weekend to get you “pumped” for 2010. Youtube doesn’t feel like uploading that video right now. I’ve been reying multiple times and still haven’t had any luck. Ohh well hopefully I can get it up soon.
Yes, we’ve changed the site once again. What is is now the 3 or 4th time this year alone? Probally is.
I’d personally like to welcome everyone who reads this to the new Coaster H.Q, we’re still Cedar Point Pics, but we have a new name and a design and stuff. I’m really hoping that everyone likes this, if you have a suggestion feel free to email me @ mattm@coasterhq.com. The old site will be up for a while as things get moved over for sure, then we’ll be getting rid of everything, so update your links!
We have over 110 days till the park opens for another fun and exciting season. With the new addition of Shoot the Rapids it should be even more fun. I’m really looking forward to the new ride, theres a lot of people along with me on that. My goal at the park this year is to keep the Twitter updates flowing while I’m there. The next one is to get some more pictures this year, along with video. Maybe I’ll get one of those snazzy HD Camecorders,
it would make things look a lot nicer. Here’s to a great 2010!
One last thing, I know that we don’t really post to much and that not many people read this but if you’re interested in writing posts about anything thats happening in the amusement/theme park world shoot me an email @ mattm@coasterhq.com and we’ll talk and get something worked out!
